For the last 21 years, children have had somewhere to turn with their secrets and fears: ChildLine.

Twenty-four hours a day, ChildLine provides a confidential freephone service for children and young people who feel they have nowhere else to turn with their concerns, be they worries about sex, bullying or abuse at home.

Rather than acting as a crisis line, the main focus of the ChildLine is to listen and to offer support and advice. Calls made by children in need are kept entirely confidential, and action is only taken outside of the call if the child requests it or is judged to be in extreme danger.

It is estimated that around half a million children make a call to ChildLine every year, but without your donations calls will go unanswered. As a part of the NSPCC, ChildLine call centres are staffed entirely by volunteers and the charity as a whole relies entirely on the generosity of the general public. Your gift will allow a child’s voice to be heard.

How the charity works

By donating just £10 per month you will enable a trained counsellor to take a call from a child in need. You can also show support via Payroll Giving, by donating shares and even by opting to give an amount from any eBay sales you might make. With almost 85% of their funding coming from public gifts, your donation will help the NSPCC and ChildLine continue their vital work.
