Save the Children

It is estimated that every year around 10 million children below the age of five die. So many of these deaths are preventable, and that’s where Save the Children step in.
Save the Children fight to provide children with the food, water, education and healthcare they need in situations where they might otherwise be forgotten.

One of their main aims is to address how the global economic crisis is affecting those in poorer countries. While we worry about having to curb our spending on luxuries, millions of the world’s poorest people are spending almost their entire income just on food – and the prices just keep going up. At a time when more and more children are facing famine, your generosity could mean everything.

How the charity works

Save the Children are currently focused on appeals in Zimbabwe and Ethiopia, where thousands of children are dying from malnutrition, as well as India and Haiti, where floods and storms have caused widespread homelessness and disease. They are also committed to seeing an end to sex trafficking and child labour, and ensuring that thousands more children are given access to education.

There are people in need the world over, and often the most unheard voices are those of children. Show you care by making a donation today. You can also commit to a regular gift through Payroll Giving – remember, one less after work drink a week could end up saving a child’s life.
